EpiHack Arizona is a hands-on, five-day innovation sprint that brings together technologists, engineers, data scientists, designers, and public health experts to develop real-world solutions for detecting emerging infectious disease threats. Unlike traditional conferences, EpiHack is focused on rapid collaboration, moving from problem to working prototype in just one week.

Participants will work side by side to design tools that enable communities across Arizona to report health events in real time and receive timely information to prevent illness and reduce the spread of infection. From tracking unusual animal die-offs and environmental stressors to identifying early signs of human illness, this initiative aims to “spot the spark before it becomes a wildfire.”

The EpiHack model, developed by the Ending Pandemics Academy, emphasizes practical, scalable solutions that bridge technology and public health. This is an opportunity to apply skills in software development, AI/ML, large language models, UX design, and digital platforms toward a high-impact, real-world challenge.

Five days. One goal. Real impact.
